Welcome to Age Concern Gateshead, working with and for older people within Gateshead.

Our Aim is to promote the welfare of older people throughout the Borough of Gateshead, and add life to years and years to life!

Get Knitting!

/images/Bobble_hats.jpgSince 2004 Age Concern has partnered with Innocent on The Big Knit, encouraging everyone to get knitting to make bobble hats which will be sold with the small bottles of Innocent Smoothie. This year Age UK has a nationwide target of 640,000 bobble hats to reach and we're hoping that Gateshead can make a big contribution towards this.

You will find attached three different bobble hat patterns for beginner, intermediate or advanced level knitters and we would like all of the hats back to us by Thursday 30th September.

If you have any questions about this campaign or would like the patterns sent to you by post please contact Linda Murray at Age Concern Gateshead on 0191 4773559 or e-mail linda.murray@ageconcerngateshead.org.uk

  • Age Concern England and Help the Aged becomes Age UK

You may have seen some of the television advertisments for Age UK (the new charity which combines Age Concern England and Help the Aged) and be wondering what is happening here at Age Concern Gateshead.

Age Concern Gateshead hasn't changed its name and we remain an independent local charity while working closely with Age UK. We may decide to change our name and become Age UK Gateshead over the next year but we will always continue to be an independent charity providing services for older people across Gateshead.

  • NEW Friendship Group
Are you a single older person trying to make some new friends?

Are you finding it hard to meet people?

Why not come along to our friendship group and meet over 50s who are in the same situation as you?

The group meets at 10.30am on the first Tuesday of every month at Café Concept, Gateshead Old Town Hall.
