Welcome to Age Concern Gateshead, working with and for older people within Gateshead.
Our Aim is to promote the welfare of older people throughout the Borough of Gateshead, and add life to years and years to life!
On 1 April 2009 the two national charities, Age Concern England and Help the Aged, merged to become one new charity which is currently called 'Age Concern and Help the Aged'. In January 2010, it will announce its new name. The aim of the merger is for the two charities to achieve more for older people than they could have done separately.
Local Age Concerns, such as Age Concern Gateshead, will remain completely independent charities but we'll obviously work with the new national charity, as we did with Age Concern England, in the interests of older people in Gateshead.
